Internet Download Manager - User Opinion

"Good enough to buy it for $100.00"
I just finished buying your program, (IDM), after having used it for 30 days. I must say that it truly impressed me from the very beginning. I have several computers and actually tested how long it would take to download a particularly large program from the internet that I purchased, (I buy and use many image editing programs and plug-ins). The 2 computers were basically the same and the one without IDM took 1.7 hours to download! (I said it was a big program). However, the one with IDM took just under 20 minutes!!! I was convinced right there that I was going to add IDM to my list of programs. But it wasn't until I looked into the program manager a little more closely that I realized just how much more the IDM can do, (such organize my downloads and even do it in categories!). And there's still more options and advantages to learn. Well I just wanted to let you know that this is one of my best programs and at an unbelievably great price, (I really thought that this would cost over $100.00 before I actually bought it).

"The greatest Internet product I've ever used!"
I downloaded the IDM trial yesterday. Today I paid for the full version :) Our family of four share a 256k ADSL connection, but by far I download the most stuff - and whenever I do, they get annoyed because it slows their connections to a crawl. Using IDM I just schedule the downloads to run overnight. That way, I get the files I need and they still get to use the internet without tearing their hair out. Everybody wins! Thanks for a great product!

"greatest product I have ever tried"
This application is awesome. It works great and increases Internet download speed from 15KB/S to 200KB/S. I have adsl modem and download tons of movies and mp3 files daily. Once I have tried IDM, I can't imagine my Internet life without it. If you have a Satellite, CABLE or DSL connection, DOWNLOAD IDM, You will love it!

"amazing, superior, excellent"
People, this tool is awesome. Usually I don't add comments to any programs, but I spared my precious time to write the following. I downloaded this program with a great skepticism, installed it and after this event my Internet life has changed. My downloads take minutes instead of long long hours. I download divx movies and mp3 files at least 5 times faster and sometimes even more. IDM's download performance is excellent, it takes small memory and CPU resources and works stable on my new Windows XP desktop computer. Thanks very much for this great tool. I recommend it! Download it, try it, and you won't regret!!!

"I love it!"
Simple drag and drop for http. Full ftp support. Detailed logs. Not even small banners, No popups. One site I use would not work with any other download manager and IE kept losing the connection. IDMan works great.

"It realy worth your money"
I've been using it since version 3.01. It saved my life a lot of times. It's one of those software programs that you can't live without them. What I like most is that Tonec Inc. keep fixing bugs and releasing patches all the time. That's good. This software is here to stay. I remember contacting them by eMail and got a fast and decent response.

"The fastest download program"
I like this product, and have found it too be a good dl manager. I heard comments about DL managers and modems are for the most part right on the money. Download "accelertors" for dial-up are a joke and defy the logic of bandwidth, TCP/IP and everything else involved in networking. The only real use for these programs on dial-up is to resume downloads in case of a disconnection (of any type). Internet Download Manager (IDM henceforth) does this just fine (like most DL managers). I HAVE, however, found a SLIGHT increase in my dl speeds (less than 1k/sec) with IDM, but nothing more than I observe with ANY other dl manager. As for others comments about it being spyware, I ran Lavasoft's Ad-Aware version 5.62 (current) and it found nothing. IDM may well BE spyware, but I haven't found anything. I DO notice however that just some of the reviews of this product listed here at CNET keep getting deleted. Check it out for yourself. Read the reviews and then check back in about 3 days, you'll see what I mean. Conspiracy or not, it's very curious, eh? I used to use Gozilla (despite the evil spyware, arghh) because on a 56k it worked well and had needed features like the ability to "throttle" downloads so they did not suck all availible modem bandwidth which allowed me to still surf etc. Also, Gozilla WAS good at giving the user control over how it interacted with the browser/clipboard so that you did not have issues trying to keep it from downloading EVERYTHING (which can be annoying as h@ll). Internet Download Manager is a great tool that does much of the usual stuff expected of downloaders, and has the greatest speed as well. I have a very well tweaked modem and run Win XP and it does quite well and maximizing usage of ALL my availible bandwidth. The addition of some kind of "throttle" to slow down the downloads a little would be nice, but even that was buggy with Gozilla. More annoying is the lack of ability to limit the number of "connections" (as they call it in their options tab). The minimal number is two (4, 8 & 16 are the others). This wouldn't be a problem except for places like fileplanet.com, where your downloads are limited to ONE "connection". As a result, IDM uses one of it's connections properly, but the other 3 after being rejected by the fileplanet servers continue to try and reconnect. This does not cause a big drop in performance, but it does keep it from reaching the speeds it usually attains. Not a BIG deal, but worth noting. Also, when using it to download from gamespy(fileplanet), if it is well integrated into Windows Internet Explorer. I have used IDM to download around 400MB+ worth of stuff at all times of the day from a variety of websites and using two different ISPs. I live in LA and have found I usually get great modem speeds and pings (for a dial-up anyhow). Overall, IDM is great, and does pretty much all I NEED. A few more features and a little more control would be nice, but thats acceptable. Perhaps the best thing I can say for IDM is that it runs great in WinXP, only takes up 3.2MB of memory, and uses very little of my CPU resources. All in all, a solid and worthwile product. Lastly, for the hardware peeps that want to question what I'm running: Asus TUSL2-C mobo, 1.2GHz Tualatin (aka Pentium 3, but now Intel calls it a Celeron), 384MB Corsair RAM, 3 hdds (Maxtor, WD, and Fujitsu), GeForce2 GTS-V, Lite-On 32x CD-RW, Intel NIC, SB Live 5.1, and Generic Intel modem.

"Not feature loaded, but still good part 2"
read the first part of my comments (below) for the rest of my review. I have used IDM to download around 400MB+ worth of stuff at all times of the day from a variety of websites and using two different ISPs. A few more features and a little more control would be nice, but thats acceptable. Perhaps the best thing I can say for IDM is that it runs great in WinXP, only takes up 3.5MB of memory, and uses very little of my CPU resources. All in all, a solid and worthwile product. "Really nice stuff"
Well, I tried this program and must say it's very helpful. I downloaded tons of mp3, mpg, avi, movies, and etc. files daily and often from very slow sites. I had been using dap for more then two years until I found this program. IDM downloaded the same file almost 2 times faster! It's incredible! And it's rock stable under my Windows XP. I?m thinking about buying it after the trial period. I recommend this product to everyone who is looking for fast and stable download manager.

"Says what it does, and does what it says!"
Works great! Needed to download a 134 Mb file from Microsoft. Without this program, the download was interrupted at random times (ie. 5 Mb, 30 Mb, 75 Mb) from Microsoft's end. With this program, the file was downloaded in 1 try in 18 Minutes (satelite connection). I don't know what JDA's and "won't be buying it"'s problem were, probably a General Exception OE (OE = Operator Error), but I highly reccommend it.

"Worked great!"
Downloaded 13mb & 9mb flies no problem on lousy 19200 connection. Prior to install I could only get 1/3 of the download. Highly recommend for slow dialup.

"It does exactly what it says on the tin"
This product works. It does what it says it will do. My downloads were much faster using it compared to using Internet Explorer. I tried it with a 450 MB file (I have 256K DSL). IE could only manage 10KBs at best and kept disconnecting. With DM I got 25KBs and no disconnects.

""Its great""
The product is perfect if you have a cable or dsl modem speeds may vary but they can reach outstanding numbers for me they have been in the megabytes no more kb/sec for me but sometimes it might be unstable this is very common with regular dial up connections and others but if you have dsl or cable its perfect if you have office its even better speeds may reach 10mb/sec mines were from 5mb/sec 10 977kb/sec and i have dsl so its a big diffence the setup is easy and its defintely worth the purchase hey some divx movies get here in minutes much better to download from internet than from anything else the instability just may be a little problem i did come across some instability problems with my windows 2000 and 98 but on xp it was ok no problems till now its a good download manager and it wont mess up your system although there might be some slowdown in some windows 95 and 98 but thats it its worth the trial and the purchase if you want to try anything else you might want to try fresh download or stardownloader but you will be taking the risk of messing up your system so this just isnt good its safe so just try it out and then youll see how your opinion changes.

"Got excellent results comparing to Windows downloader"
There is about a 300% improvement between this product and the downloader that you get with Microsoft Windows, so IDM is worth to be downloaded and installed.
